1. Information we collect
When you create an account we collect your username, email address, and any profile details or avatar you choose to add. When you use Protolab we store the prototypes you publish and the likes, saves, and comments you make.
2. Invite code emails
If a maker gates a free try behind an email address, the email you provide is shared with that maker so they can follow up about that specific prototype. Only provide an email if you're comfortable with that. Makers are never allowed to require a like or save to unlock a code — only, at most, your email.
3. How makers must treat your email
Makers who collect your email through Protolab are required to use it only to follow up about the prototype you unlocked, to handle it responsibly and securely, and to comply with applicable data-protection and anti-spam laws. They may not spam you, send deceptive or abusive messages, or sell, rent, or share your email with third parties. If a maker misuses your email, tell us at [email protected] — we may suspend or permanently remove their account.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to operate Protolab: to show your content, power the leaderboard and featured sections, keep your account secure, send account emails such as password resets, and communicate with you about the service.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Content you post publicly (prototypes, likes, saves, comments, profile) is visible to others. Emails submitted to unlock a free try are shared only with the relevant maker, who must follow the rules above.
6. Cookies and sessions
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. They are essential to how the platform functions.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You may delete your prototypes and account at any time, after which we remove associated personal data except where we must retain it by law.
